The essential principles include mind body integration, generating internal energy, mindfulness, and serenity. The ultimate purpose of qigong is to cultivate the qi or life energy within us to flow smoothly and powerfully throughout the body. The stronger the flow of qi the healthier the body.
Numerous studies have shown qigong improves mindfulness, reduces stress, muscular strength and flexibility, lowers blood pressure, balance, improve immunity, relieves pain and improves quality of life. One of the more important long-term effects is reestablishing the body/mind/soul connection.
Each class begins with gentle warm up exercises and ends with slow cooling down exercises. Handouts will be available for further study. Wear loose comfortable clothing.
